The same note, at 3 levels

What you typedStored exactly like this, always.

ok so we agreeed on the 30 day window for retention. dana is takign the migration, wants a dry run first. storage cost was the reason we didnt go longer — need to check numbers w/ platform team befre we commit

Fix typosSpelling, spacing and punctuation. Nothing else moved.

OK, so we agreed on the 30 day window for retention. Dana is taking the migration, wants a dry run first. Storage cost was the reason we didn’t go longer — need to check numbers with the platform team before we commit.

PolishComplete sentences and tidy structure. Same meaning, same order.

We agreed on a 30-day retention window. Dana is taking the migration and wants a dry run first. Storage cost was the reason we did not go longer, so we need to check the numbers with the platform team before we commit.

RestructureRebuilt as a finished note. Facts kept, form free.

Decision — retention windowWe are keeping retention at 30 days.

WhyA longer window costs more to store. We did not have numbers to justify it.

NextDana runs the migration, starting with a dry run. Someone checks storage numbers with the platform team before we commit.

How it fits together

Three moves, in order

What you keep, what comes in, and the place where the two meet.

  1. 1

    Everything lands in one place

Type it, paste it, or drop a file. Nothing waits on a decision about where it goes.

  2. 2

You pick how much AI touches it

4 levels, from a typo pass to a full rewrite — and the words you typed are kept either way.

  3. 3

    Later, it answers you

Ask in your own words. The answer is built from your notes and shows which ones it used.

The contract

Every version you typed is kept

Every version you typed is stored on its own, so you can read what changed as a diff, keep it, or put the note back exactly as you wrote it. The bigger the rewrite, the more it has to ask first.

  • Yesterdayafter Fix typos
  • What you typedrestore

You set the level

You decide how much it changes

Leave a note exactly as written, fix typos and punctuation, tighten the structure, or reorder the whole argument. Leave it on Auto and each note gets the lightest setting that fits it.

Answers you can check

Every answer shows the note it came from

Ask a question and the answer is built only from what you wrote, with the passages it used listed underneath. When your notes do not support an answer, it tells you what it searched instead of inventing one.

How grounded chat works

You moved the deadline to the 14th because QA was short‑staffed.

From

  • Standup — Aug 12
  • QA capacity note

Findable later

A note is broken into the ideas inside it

Each note is split into atoms — the smallest passages that still stand on their own — and every atom stays anchored to the sentence it came from. Search, links and answers all work on those, so a line buried in a long note is as reachable as a title.

Atoms and sources

“Deadline moves to the 14th. QA is two people short until September.”

  • Deadline → Aug 14
  • QA understaffed until September

What it will not do

Three things it refuses

  • It never overwrites what you wrote

Every save is kept as its own version, including the one you typed before AI touched it. Restoring adds a version instead of removing one.

    Version history
  • It never condenses on its own

Auto picks a cleanup level for you, and it can only pick from the ones that keep your meaning. Summaries happen when you ask for them.

    Processing levels
  • It never answers without a source

Answers are built only from passages the search returned, and every one is listed underneath. When your notes do not support an answer, it says so.
